06th December 2017 : Visited Wat Silawad Ahong, it is not the first time, I like the peace and quiet here and watching the Mekong, very relaxing. I took some group photos for some Bangkok visitors. It is on the Phon Pisai to Bueng Kan road & sits on the Mekong river, there is another temple like structure on the Laos side of the river. The image below is looking upriver from Kaeng Ahong.
Legend also has it that this is the sacred spot where the naga fireball occurs. In this temple also lies statue of goddess of the Mekong River’s navel, popular amongst locals who come to pray for fortune and love
Below left is the temple on the Laos side of the Mekong river & right is a view looking downriver.
The best months to go are from about early / mid October through to the end of February, not too hot or wet.
