People & places (2) : Sala Jao Phu Ya : Chinese Temple in Nong Khai.

Sala Jao Phu Ya is a Chinese Mahayana Buddhist temple. Mahayana Buddhism is the largest worldwide following but Theravada Buddhism is the main belief in Thailand. Vajrayana Buddhism is the 3rd and smallest worldwide following although this may be part of the Mahayana tradition.
It is down Soi Prabhaw, if approaching from the Krungsri bank main road area, you will see a decorated archway next to the Nong Khai head office of Krungsri bank. If you approach from the main road off the Tha Sadet Market ( Indo China Market ) side you will see the white on blue sign and the temple is just around the corner. At this blue sign you can see the temple and a Thai massage shop, did not try it out sorry.
The pictures show the courtyard outside and inside the temple, please follow the instructions to remove your shoes before entry and remember you are in Thailand and polite attire is appreciated while butts and boobs hanging out is likely to incur a prison visit, fine and probable early exit from the Land of Smiles. Simply if you wouldn't do it in your country why expect to be able to here.
